What’s the origin of hella? How did hella become synonymous with the Bay Area? As linguistic historians and locals note, the word hella started in the late 70s. You know what else cropped up in the Bay Area around that time? Hell of people using Hella lights. Yeah, remember them? Plastered all over the grills of sports cars and 4x4s? No one can deny those lights were hella cool.
